Mitch Benn
Mitch Benn - Previous winner of the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year. Travels the UK with his guitar, creating laughter wherever he goes, and is also a writer, performer and the resident musician on Radio 4's 'The Now Show'.
The Distractions - Mitch Benn's new comedy song band. Expect Macbeth as told by Eminem and the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Death, celebrating the ways in which famous musicians have left this mortal coil... Not to be missed.
His first CD, ‘The Unnecessary Mitch Benn’, a collection of live recordings, was a big hit with his fans. His second album ‘Radio Face’, was a studio album featuring fifteen tracks, many of which are extended versions of songs previously featured on ‘The Now Show’ and ‘Bad Week’. His third album and first with the band, ‘Too Late To Cancel’, was released in October 2004.
The Distractions are two enormously talented female musicians, Kirsty Newton and Tash Baylis. Tash (formerly of all girl band Hepburn.) The band release their first single ‘Everything Sounds Like Coldplay Now’ on 5th September followed five weeks later by their new album, ‘Crimes Against Music’ to coincide with a national Autumn tour.
‘’Funnier than a Justin Hawkins jump suit…master of fine tuned irreverence” The Evening Standard.
“Giddying heights of caricature…the real deal“ The Guardian.
“Enormously entertaining…the lyrics are a joy” Time Out.
“Every song is a winner…his vision is truly original” The Scotsman.
“Benn’s lyrics are crammed with enough jokes to keep most comedians ticking over for life” The List.
“Well crafted, well sung, his songs are just plain funny” The Guardian.
The single has long sold out at HMV and Virgin, so I advise you to snap up the tickets early if you want to get in.
