SECRET GARDEN & COOL HOUSE IN ASSOCIATION WITH OUT OF HAND PRESENT "THE CARNIVAL"
When: Saturday 8th July 2006 -> Sunday 9th July 2006
Where: Callagans Gardens, Castle Street, Cardiff
The Secret Garden Soundsystem and Cool House come together in a
collaboration to bring you an unmissable weekend of Carnival Vibes at Callaghan's Gardens July 8th/9th.
Day one, July 8th will see The Callaghan's Garden be transformed in to a Brazilian Carnival featuring the Legendary DJ Gilles Peterson and his Compare, Earl Zinger, launching his latest CD 'Back in Brazil' as part of the Brahma tour. The 10-piece Samba Band Rebalardo will be playing carnival flavours with their extremely colourful and beautiful Samba dancers. Max Sedgley (Sunday Best) will be performing live with his new live act "From
Roots to Shoots" Cardiff's own Batucada Basics promoters will also be playing a Favela Funk set. Supporting all this will be Moneyshot, Kaptin, Dregz & Shai with Tom Umbongo on percussion.
Don't expect the Carnival Flavor to end with just the music, Mrs. Ben will be there helping out with her Carnival wares, face painting, and fake tan over the weekend, so you too can join in the Carnival fun, special prizes will be given to the best costumes.
No Expense has been spared and the best in Sound and lighting has been supplied for this event. Inside Bristol's Outofhand Magazine will host "The House Of Bamboo" over the whole weekend, 2 days of music with local heroes from Bristol and Cardiff keeping the bar all things Party.
Day two July 9th Will be the hosted by the award winning Cool House team who continue the Carnival vibe throughout Sunday with a twelve-hour party outside in the Garden. Whilst most folk are munching a Sunday Roast the Carnival welcomes two of the most talked about producers and DJ's The
Electric Press, who will be bringing their live showcase to Cardiff for the
first time. Already compared to the likes of Underworld and The Chemical Brothers, Tom, Wes alongside MC PMQ will be showcasing original material, set for release on 20:20 Vision Recordings, with vocals, synths and efx thrown into the mix for good measure.
Headlining the day will be the awesome Soul Mekanic (Rip Records) whose leftfield and fun approach to House will appeal to all. Brothers Kelvin and Danny have been involved in dance music for over a decade and their latest album '81' sits somewhere between the expressive pop of Mylo, the edge of
Black Strobe, the production savvy of Richard X, the then and nowness of Tom Tom Club and the sheer accessibility of Royksopp. In Support we welcome a selection of Cardiff's finest including Owain K, Jack Bastard, Lukey B, Simon Reed, Dai Tiny, Simon Bignella alongside Cool House cohorts Dave Mills, Matt Joy, Andrew Aubrey, Matt Owen, Gez O'Neil, Huey Richards plus
all the Secret Garden Soundsystem dancers and carnival crew...Phew!!!
The event is collaboration between two of the most hedonistic party
promoters in Wales and is set to be a weekend's worth of carnage not to be missed. Forget your 10pm-4am clubs and get ready to dance in the sunshine like it?s 1989!
The Garden will be open from 12pm-10: 30pm the house of Bamboo inside runs till 2am and there will be an after party for ticket holders at Buffalo Bar till 4am on both nights.
