The best young Welsh singers, drawn from all parts of Wales, join together for a summer course and concert series in July, before singing at Canterbury Cathedral in September.
Choristers, between the ages of 16 and 21, will rehearse an ambitious programme of choral works spanning nearly 500 years, ranging from Tallis to Whitacre. Vaughan Williams is commemorated in this anniversary year with his Three Shakespeare Songs, and the Choir returns to the music of Bach which it featured in its 1992 visit to Leipzig. In addition to the late Alun Hoddinott, Welsh composers are featured in works by Mansel Thomas and William Mathias. Favourite part-songs by Parry and Pearsall ensure that the programme will attract all choral enthusiasts as well as the general concert-goer.
