A British Christmas Night at the Movies
Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra
Michael Bell, conductor
Stewart Roberts, piano
Friday 12 December 2008 at 19:30
St David's Hall, Cardiff.
In December 2007 Cardiff Philharmonic Orchestra celebrated the 75th birthday of leading American film composer John Williams. This season we feature music by British composers. From Ron Goodwin we'll be performing music from Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines and 633 Squadron; from Sir Malcolm Arnold music from Whistle Down the Wind and The Belles of St Trinians; Sir William Walton is represented by the stirring Spitfire Prelude and Fugue from The First of the Few.
Andrew Lloyd Webber is represented by music from The Phantom of the Opera, and Richard Addinsell by music from Goodbye Mr Chips and the much loved Warsaw Concerto from Dangerous Moonlight. And we celebrate the music of 007 James Bond with music from, among others, Goldfinger, Live and Let Die and From Russia With Love.
All this and much, much more!
Ticket Prices: £5 - £17 (Concessions available) - Tickets available from St David's Hall Box Office, 029 2087 4444
