New for 2009! Ahead of the Oxjam Cardiff Chill 2009 festival in March, The Jazz Sessions (a new strand for the festival) hopes to promote and nurture the talents of young people.
On Saturday 28 February, the festival will feature the talents of the 'Lil Big Band', a 22 piece big band, who include a mixture of classic swing, funk and latin numbers to suit any occasion within their repertoire.
Hailing from Bath, they have reached critical acclaim with their unique style, wowing audiences young and old. With tunes ranging from Duke Ellington classics, right through to modern big band
numbers, The Lil Big Band will be sure to get the audience on their feet!
The band is playing at 'The Jazz Sessions' as part of a brief tour of South Wales from 26 February- 1 March.
All proceeds from the evening will go to Oxfam
Entry for the gig is £5 which is payable on the door. A raffle is also planned for the evening with prizes yet to be confirmed.
Doors are open from 7pm with the music starting at around 8pm. At 7:15pm, Oxfam's 'Sisters on the Planet' film (approximately 20 minutes long) will be screened
**Please note that unfortunately, due to the venue and the pub atmosphere, no under-18s will be allowed entry to this event.
We hope to find a suitable venue for a wider audience for the forthcoming Oxjam Cardiff Chill 2009 festival in March.
