RWCMD are pleased to announce this two week summer workshop for Directors and Actors, with Living Pictures Artistic Directors Elen and Robert Bowman.
The two weeks will run from Monday to Saturday - 10.30am to 5.30pm. There will be two groups of students taking part – one group of directors who will primarily be taught by Elen Bowman and one group of actors primarily taught by Robert Bowman. Each week there will also be a two day master class with a well known UK theatre practitioner drawn from previous Living Pictures workshop leaders. (Please check our website for a list of our regular tutor directors)
The two weeks will consist of separate and joint group classes, with directors being assigned actors from the acting group and allocated scenes to practice with. Those taking part will be able to learn new tools and then apply them under the guidance of an experienced practitioner in an unpressurised and supportive environment. The work will then be tested at the end of the two weeks in the presence of an invited audience. It will be a great opportunity to learn and meet like minded people and develop your understanding of your craft.
Robert is an actor and a director and teaches acting at Trinity University College Carmarthen and is influenced by Stanislavski, Sanford Meisner and Michael Chekhov. Robert’s recommended reading for the two weeks will be Bella Merlin’s The Complete Stanislavski ToolKit.
Elen is a director and has taught numerous directors one to one and in workshop conditions. She is acknowledged in Katie Mitchell’s book on directing as being one of two major influences on her work.
