Paul Watkins- Cello

Welsh cellist, conductor and Fellow of the College Paul Watkins makes a welcome return to the College for a varied concert. After winning the BBC Young Musician of the Year in the string section in 1988 Paul has gone on to have a successful solo career as well as being a member of the internationally acclaimed Nash Ensemble.
Bach's suite in D minor for solo cello will make a stark contrast with Crumb's Sonata for solo cello, making for an exciting and unusual programme.
A masterclass with Paul Watkins for cello students at the college will follow this recital.
