Classical Education Forum Day Course: The Wife of Bath’s Prologue and Tale

When: Saturday 27th February 2010 - 10:00am-3:30pm

Where: Ararat Centre, Whitchurch, Cardiff, CF14 1PT

This day school focuses on The Wife of Bath’s Prologue and Tale. Taken from The Canterbury Tales this 14th century poem is one of Chaucer’s richest and most fascinating tales. The day will also include Chaucer put into historical context.

The Wife’s Prologue is a sensational monologue. She shares with us, without inhibition, her ‘conjugal past’. Public and impenitent, she glories unashamedly in her sexual appetite and her way of life. The Wife’s Tale, set ‘In th’olde dayes of the king Arthour,’ explores and answers the age old question – what do women want?

Lecturers: Wendy Hill and Liz Mayor
