When: Saturday 17th July 2010 - 10am -3.30pm
Where: Ararat Centre, Whitchurch, Cardiff, CF14 1PT
By using a variety of sources, this day school will introduce students to slavery in Anglo-Saxon England. We will explore who were enslaved, how they treated, and how they could be freed. No previous knowledge is assumed.
Through studying the available sources, we will explore the following questions:
-Who were enslaved and why?
-How were they treated – did they have any legal rights? Could they marry and have a family?
-How could they gain freedom?
