Classical Education Forum Day Course: Children in Anglo-Saxon England
When: Saturday 25th September 2010 - 10am -3.30pm
Where: Ararat Centre, Whitchurch, Cardiff, CF14 1PT
This day school will introduce students to the world of Anglo-Saxon England through the eyes of their children. We will explore how children were cared for and treated, how they were dealt with by the law, and evidence for their nurture. No previous knowledge is assumed.
By exploring a variety of sources, we will examine:
-Notions of childhood.
-The care of sick children.
-Evidence for their care.
-Protection under the law.
-Were Anglo-Saxon children valued and cherished – the evidence of literature.
