Ryder Cup Concert

When: Wednesday 29th September 2010 - Gates open 8pm | Show starts 9pm

Where: Millennium Stadium, Cardiff City Centre

An 'all star' concert has been lined up for the Millennium Stadium, to welcome the Ryder Cup golf tournament to Wales for the first time. The concert will be held on the Wednesday evening - two days before the Ryder Cup gets under way at Celtic Manor.

Carwyn Jones, First Minister of Wales, said: "The Ryder Cup will be a huge event for Wales and we are keen to ensure a warm Welsh welcome to visitors, this is an ideal way to kick-start proceedings and show the world what Wales has to offer."

Update 23rd June 2010: It's been announced that Katherine Jenkins, Catherine Zeta Jones and Only Men Aloud will appear at the Ryder Cup concert. Katherine Jenkins was quoted as saying: "I'm delighted to be back in Wales for this very special concert. To welcome the most prestigious and recognised event in the golfing calendar to Wales is a real honour."

Update 20th August 2010: More acts have today been announced for the Ryder Cup Concert. Ponty band Lostprophets and the young Swansea singer Shaheen Jafargholi will be performing at the concert.

Update 7th September 2010: Dame Shirley Bassey was today announced as the latest artist to be added to the 'Welcome To Wales' concert billing. It will be the first time that Shirley Bassey has performed in her homeland for more than 5 years.

Update 16th September 2010: It's been announced that Prince Charles will attend the 'Welcome To Wales' concert. The prince will also meet the European and US captains, Colin Montgomerie and Corey Pavin, earlier in the day when he tours the Celtic Manor Resort.

Gates open 8pm, please take your seats by 8.30pm for 9pm show start. The show will finish at 10.45pm.
