When: Friday 22nd October 2010 - 9:30am - 8pm
Where: St David's Shopping Centre, St Davids Way, Cardiff, South Glamorgan CF10 2DP
A national health campaign called ‘A Matter of Urgency’ is coming to St David’s shopping centre to raise awareness of Overactive Bladder (OAB), which could affect over 25,000 people in Cardiff.(1)
The national campaign, which is funded by Astellas Pharma Ltd., is touring the UK in October and November to reach the one in five people in the UK aged over 40 (2) who experience this common condition.
Unfortunately, new research has shown that over 50% of respondents diagnosed with OAB don’t feel comfortable talking about the condition with friends and family,(3) and nearly one in three don’t even feel comfortable talking about it with their GP.(3) This campaign aims to bring OAB out into the open and spread the word that help is available.
A Continence Advisor from Cardiff will be onsite at St David’s shopping centre on Friday 22nd October to talk to members of the public about OAB and to provide practical advice and tips on learning to manage a bladder problem.
OAB is a sudden and compelling need to relieve the bladder, which is difficult to put off, often associated with the frequent need to go to the toilet during the night or the day, and may result in incontinence.(4,5)
