Ffresh 2011 - The Student Moving Image Festival for Wales

When: Wednesday 9th February 2011 -> Friday 11th February 2011

Where: Glamorgan University ATRiuM & Cineworld Cardiff

Ffresh 2011, the student moving image festival of Wales, is coming to the ATRiuM campus & Cineworld Cardiff on February 9th-11th.

The festival celebrates the best work being created by up-and-coming moving image talent around the world. It features screenings, panel sessions, master classes and workshops which are open to students and the general public.

Some of this year’s highlights include:

* Creating the hyper-real and altered realities: Scott Pilgrim vs. The World – A talk from visual effects team Double Negative, who worked with director Edgar Wright to create the unique look of the hit 2010 film.

* The Weird and Wonderful World of Jon Ronson – a keynote speech from the Cardiff born investigative journalist and author of international bestsellers The Men who Stare at Goats and Them

* Directing for Soaps – a panel with some of the leading directors in the field including Griff Rowland (Dir. Coronation Street), Terry Dyddgen Jones (Dir. Eastenders & Pobol Y Cwm) and Judith Dine (Dir. Emmerdale, Heartbeat & Hollyoaks).

* The Art of 2D Animation – a talk by Peter Dodd, whose credits include the video for Melancholy Hill by Gorrilaz.

The full programme is available on the Ffresh 2011 site.

The festival ends with the Ffresh 2011 awards, where a jury of industry experts will recognise the cream of student moving image talent in Wales for their efforts. Many of the nominees are past and present ATRiuM students, and we’ll be featuring the work of some of them on Facebook, Twitter and this site as we count down to the event.

The event is open to the public and tickets are available to buy on the Ffresh 2011 site. Entry is free for University of Glamorgan students.
