TEDxCardiff 2011

TEDxCardiff 2011

When: Saturday 9th April 2011 - 2pm - 8pm

Where: Wales Millennium Centre, Bute Place, Cardiff Bay, CF10 5AL

TEDx returns to Cardiff for a second year to provide a day of exciting talks and performances. TED is an annual event that brings together the world's leading thinkers and doers to share ideas that matter in any discipline -- technology, entertainment, design, science, humanities, business, development. The talks at the conference, "TEDTalks," are then made available to watch for free on TED.com.

In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading," TED has created TEDx, a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connections. Our TEDx event is not organized by TED Conferences, but is operated under a license from TED.

TEDxCardiff is organised by Claire Scantlebury and Neil Cocker. The event is being held in the Weston Studio at the Wales Millennium Centre on Saturday 9 April from 2pm - 8pm with tickets going on sale on Friday 4 March.

We've already signed up a number of speakers including:
- Award winning Sci-Fi author Alastair Reynolds,
- Tori James who was the first Welsh Woman to climb Everest,
- Peter Lawrence who founded the Big Chill Festival,
- Tim Robertson who is the Chief Exec of the Koestler Trust (a charity that has encouraged artistic achievement by offenders)
- and Rome Viharo & Maf Lewis who are presenting their findings into their research on whether or not Google has become sentient.

If you'd like to find out more about the event and watch some videos of last years talks take a look at http://tedxcardiff.co.uk/.
