This year British Heart Foundation is celebrating its 50th birthday. We have launched our mending broken hearts appeal - one of the most ambitious projects ever undertaken by the British Heart Foundation. The hope is if we can get the money we could be funding trials with heart failure patients in as little as 5 years. Every day approximately 30 people in Wales die from heart and circulatory disease.
The zebra fish is a very special fish. The zebra fish can heal his own heart. Scientists are trying to unlock the zebra fish’s secrets, in doing so they hope to repair our hearts too.
If we have a heart attack our heart muscle is damaged forever and surgery and drugs only limit the devastating effect this can have on our quality of life.
We need to fund this groundbreaking research – it could be the break through that literally does mend broken hearts – the little zebra fish is not just a fish - he’s hope!
In Cardiff and South East Wales our target is to raise an additional £175,000 over the next three years.
Your support at events such as our annual golf day will help us make the first repairable human heart a reality giving hope to millions. We truly believe that together we can beat heart disease.
