Serenity Summer Spectacular

When: Saturday 16th July 2011 - 7.30pm

Where: The Gate, Keppoch Street, Roath, Cardiff, CF24 3JW

On Saturday 16th of July The Gate Arts Centre is welcoming the Serenity Female Voice Choir in concert. The show will take place in The Grand Theatre at 7.30pm.

As for repertoire, Serenity will perform a wide variety of material, from well known and recognized pieces (mostly contemporary spanning across a number of genres) to their own specially arranged material. Examples of recent pieces include: Life on Mars, Blame it on the boogie, It is well, Butterflies and Hurricanes, Ave Maria, Night and Day & Love Train.

Three years ago Patrick had just graduated from Cardiff University with a BA in Music and after working so hard he wanted to put the fun back into music for himself and others. And so Serenity was born. At that point it was 8 of his friends in a room singing Disney and sister act with much gusto. Since then, the choir has grown faster in size and performance ability. It’s now made up of 35 women of all ages (the youngest member is 18, the oldest one is 64) and from all walks of life.

The choir remains non auditioning with an aim to sing, perform and enjoy itself and the audience. Its performances are funny, exciting, energy packed and, most importantly, of a very high standard. The choir is constantly trying to grow and improve and last year they performed in over 10 concerts, sold out on our UK tour, got awarded choir of the day in the BBC choir of the year competition and raised over £3500 for charity.

So, come and join Serenity Female Voice Choir in the first of The Gate’s summer spectacular concerts!
