Come and join us for an evening of spectacular live music, with a line-up showcasing some of the hottest new talent to emerge from the Welsh music scene. Line up: singer/songwriter Jonathan Powell, multi-talented Alex Sedgemond and Ocean Red, all major new talents in South Wales (
Jonathan Powell, who is kindly supporting us during our centenary year, will be headlining. After reading an article in New Scientist about a flock of birds that forced a plane to crash land after being sucked into its engines, Jonathan was inspired to write ‘Brave Captain Mallard’ - a beautiful, haunting song that recounts the events from the bird’s perspective. Subsequently impressed by the song and video, RSPB Cymru teamed up with Jonathan to make him our ‘Voice for Nature’ this year.
Supporting Jonathan are up and coming talents Alex Sedgemond and Ocean Red. Alex boasts a truly original sound, combining rough hewn, sandpapered vocals with his accomplished slide guitar skills…and a didgeridoo!
Ocean Red are a five-piece from Cardiff who are currently causing a stir on the South Wales music scene. Despite only forming in late 2010, they have already achieved airplay on BBC Radio Wales, and have been described as ‘pulse racing’ by the miniature music press!
