The Clerestory Choir, located in the heart of the Washington, DC metro region, will soon be embarking on a tour of England, Wales and Ireland.
The Choir has a decades-long tradition of performing major choral works, including John Rutter’s “Gloria”, “Requiem”, and “Mass of the Children”; “Requiem” and “Grand Mass in C Minor” by Mozart; “Symphony of Psalms” by Stravinsky; “Passion According to Saint Matthew” by J S Bach; and other major choral works by Vivaldi, Haydn and Brahms.
Clerestory Choir is a Unitarian Universalist Church chorus that periodically joins singers from other religious communities, including a recent concert with choirs from African American Baptist and Roman Catholic congregations.
In 2010, members of the Clerestory Choir travelled to New Orleans, Louisiana, on a social action mission to assist recovery efforts from the 2005 devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Members worked on housing renewal projects and performed at an AIDS hospice care facility and at a nursing home.
Last year, the Choir hosted the North American annual conference of the Unitarian Universalist Musicians Network and in 996, the Choir performed in Italy; and in 2004, the Choir toured Hungary and Romania.
