Corona Extra has today announced the dates and venues for the regional heats of its prestigious Movida Corona DJ competition with the tour hitting Glam in Cardiff on 5th July. The ‘play-offs’ will start in Portrush, Northern Ireland on June 15th and culminate with the UK final at a ‘top secret’ venue in September.
Now in its 13th year the global competition gives up-and-coming UK DJs the chance to catapult their career onto the international dance music stage and appear at Pacha, Ibiza, taking a giant step towards becoming the next Super-star DJ. Eight DJs from the region will compete for a place in the UK final at Baracoa and clubbers on the night will be in with a chance of instantly winning a trip to Mexico.
Aspiring DJs hoping to take home the coveted title of Movida Corona Champion 2013 can enter by visiting www.mixcloud.com/movidacoronauk/, uploading a 30 minute mix and getting friends and fans to show their support before the 12th May.
The twenty most popular entries in each region, determined by the highest number of engagements, including plays, comments, favourites and Facebook shares, will then be judged by the panel – so make sure you promote your mix. Eight successful DJs will go through to each regional event to compete for a place in the UK final in September.
The national final will take place at an iconic, yet to be announced, UK location and will be organised for the first time by renowned party people, Secret Party Project. In addition to the parties themselves, clubbers at each regional event will be in with a chance of winning a trip to Mexico later this year as part of Corona Extra’s big summer campaign, Beach Break.
The winning DJ will represent the UK in the International Grand Finale at Pacha’s closing party in Ibiza on the 5th of October, and will receive an extensive prize package that includes Corona Extra beer as well as flights to, and accommodation in, Ibiza.
The Grand Finale winner will take home the International Movida Corona 2013 crown, which includes a sensational money-can’t-buy prize; one of the world’s most coveted residencies, Pacha, the headline spot on the 2014 Movida Corona tour and the opportunity to record three mixes with Pacha Recordings.
