Gwyneth Glyn & Tauseef Akhtar came together and started work on this beautiful set of Ghazals and Welsh Folk Poetry, GHAZALAW which means Ghazal - Tunes.
The ‘Live from Acapela’ series features Gwyneth Glyn, a veteran of the Smithsonian Festival, billed as the biggest annual cultural event in the United States, who was named Best Female Artist at the Radio Cymru Rock and Pop Awards. Glyn will be mixing up Urdu poetry with old Welsh verses as she performs alongside Mumbai’s Tauseef Akhtar.
The Gwyneth Glyn and Tauseef Akhtar event on June 8th is particularly exciting as it will provide a taster of the kind of thing we can expect in October 2013, when Cardiff hosts the hugely prestigious Womex World Music Expo – which is yet another indicator of how the folk scene in Wales is evolving.
