The punk poet John Cooper Clarke, brings his brilliant verse and hilarious wit to Glee Club Cardiff, Wednesday 2nd October.

JCC's biting, satirical, political and very funny verse delivered in his rapid-fire performance style resonated with the punk movement. After touring with the Sex Pistols, The Clash, Buzzcocks, The Fall, and Elvis Costello, he began to draw large crowds in his own right. Joy Division were proud to open for JCC on numerous occasions and New Order later supported him on their first joint Australian tour.

He became known as the 'Punk Poet' and 'Bard of Salford' in the late 70's, famed for being one of the leading voices of punk and youth culture, as well as his iconic appearance - tall and thin, mass of black hair, sunglasses, drainpipes and Cuban heels. He released a huge collection of his words and poetry titled Ten Years In An Open Neck Shirt, which became one of the best-selling poetry books of the 1980's, and is still on sale today.

More recently John has toured regularly and extensively throughout the UK, the rest of Europe and Australasia, festivals including Latitude and The Green Man, and is soon to tour the US. He was the star of the BBC4 film Evidently John Cooper Clarke, and appears frequently on BBC 6music.
