Highly acclaimed, award winning singer-songwriter & Van Morrison collaborator heads to Glee Club Cardiff
Brian Kennedy grew up as a busker on the streets of west Belfast and London, until his voice began to be noticed by the likes of Simon Fuller. Along the way, Belfast legend Van Morrison invited Brian to a rehearsal, which resulted in him being featured as a guest lead singer on his touring Blues and Soul Revue. Here he shared stages for 6 years across the world with Morrison and a breathtaking cast of artists: Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles and John Lee Hooker.
Brian also performed with Stevie Wonder at Ronnie Scotts in London, and incredibly he is one of only a few to have sung with the late Jeff Buckley at Sin É in New York.
Brian has also managed to maintain a stream of chartmaking albums. A Better Man and Now That I Know What I Want, both went platinum at No.1 and earned him the awards of Irish Best Male Artist and Irish Best Male Album, as did the highly acclaimed Homebird and Interpretations. But it was Brian’s heart wrenching performance of ‘You Raise Me Up’ at the Funeral of Football Legend George Best that earned him a spot in the top 5 of the UK charts.
Brian’s latest album Voice and single ‘Best Days’ is his lyrical reaction to the recession and cements his reputation as an exceptional vocalist, guitar player, songwriter and interpreter.
