When: Friday 14th March 2014 - 9pm-5am
Where: St David's Shopping Centre car park
Members of the public are being invited to sleep under the stars for one night as part of the Cardiff SleepEasy Challenge 2014, which takes place on Friday 14th March.
The sleep out event is being organised by Cardiff YMCA Housing Association to help raise awareness of homelessness and poverty in the area, and generate vital funds for the local charity.
This year’s event is being held in partnership with St David’s shopping centre, and will take place in the St David’s car park on Friday 14 March, from 9pm to 5am.
Last year almost 1,000 people came through the YMCA’s doors in Cardiff; all were homeless, with nowhere to stay for that night or the foreseeable future, many with complex support needs.
In addition to the main SleepEasy event at St David’s, this year the YMCA is also encouraging people to hold their own satellite sleep out events, for example in local churches, schools, workplaces or colleges. Fundraising materials can be provided.
All funds raised will go directly to local YMCA projects, supporting the community and helping people in need build a future.
