Contemporary Indian cuisine served in the heart of Cardiff Bay. A great location coupled with great food add up to the perfect combination in this excellent restaurant.
Café Naz is situated on the upper floor of the Mermaid Quay development - next door to Izakaya, the Japanese restaurant. Its balcony location offers superb views across the bay for those who take a table towards the front of the restaurant.
As befits its location, the interior of Café Naz is stylishly modern and includes a glass fronted kitchen through which you can watch the chefs prepare your food.
As you open the menu, a message from the head Chef welcomes you to his restaurant and explains the philosophy behind Café Naz. The menu is extensive and contains all the usual Indian favourites plus a few specials. There appeared to be a good selection of vegetable dishes for the vegetarians amongst you. I opted for the Garlic Chilli Chicken dish which I can honestly say was as nice a curry as I have tasted in Cardiff.
Perhaps the most surprising thing about the whole evening was the bill - which for a party of 4, who each had a starter, main course, beers/wine and a coffee liqueur to finish - came to just £80. For a top quality restaurant in a great location, £20 a head is very good value in my book.
We visited Café Naz on a particularly quiet weekday evening, but I would advise you to book ahead for a weekend meal as it can get busy.
