Cardiff Motorpoint Arena

Cardiff Motorpoint Arena

Cardiff Motorpoint Arena, formerly known as Cardiff International Arena or CIA, is Cardiff's largest purpose-built exhibition facility. The main arena offers 4,000 sq. metres of space that can be used to host exhibitions, conferences, concerts, cultural and sporting events.

The arena was officially opended on 10th September 1993, when Shirley Bassey performed a Gala Opening Concert in front of 5,500 eager fans in her home town. Since then the arena has gone on to host hundreds of big name acts and has become the city's most popular concert venue.

In March 2011 Derby-based car supermarket, Motorpoint, bought the naming rights for the arena. As a result, the venue will be known as the Motorpoint Arena for the next five years.
