This programme of Messiaen’s wind music celebrates the composer’s centenary, as well as his lifelong interest in ornithology and the transcription of bird calls, which are used in all of tonight’s works. RWCMD students appear as soloists, chamber musicians and members of the Wind Orchestra for the two large ensemble works.
