Woolfenden Concerto for Bassoon; Pirates of Penzance, Pomp & Circumstance
Cardiff's own Symphony Orchestra performs these inspirational five works at 'The Gate'.
Steve Marsden will be performing the Concerto for Bassoon by English composer Guy Woolfenden. First performed in 1999, the work derives inspiration from Nielsen and has the evident influence of Sibelius, although the work remains firmly Woolfenden: a little theatrical,well-orchestrated, accessible, entertaining, and clever without being too clever..
Also being performed are the ever popular Pirates of Penzance overture, Elgar's Pomp & Circumstance March No.4, Host The Perfect Fool and Elgar's Romance for Bassoon.
Join CCSO in this feast of variety; tickets available (£8, £6 concessions) from the door from 7pm, or the box office (please check with venue to check seat availability if paying on the night).
