Protected only by the rugged landscape surrounding her isolated cottage in the South Wales' valleys, Megan is left alone with her baby and a broken plough when her husband goes off to fight in the Great War.
Through the harshest of times this feisty young woman does what she must to survive the dark reality of her harsh existence. So, when a desperate stranger breaks into her cottage, Megan sees an opportunity which can benefit them both - but no-one could foresee the difficulties which will unfold when her husband returns, unexpectedly, from the front...
