Based on the chilling novel by Franz Kafka and adapted for the stage by Steven Berkoff, The Trial follows the nightmarish tale of Joseph K, a man on trial for his right to exist after he is suddenly arrested on the morning of his thirtieth birthday for crimes which he is never informed. Performed through the captivating mediums of mime, ensemble and physical theatre, Berkoff’s adaptation manipulates even the unspoken in Kakfa’s unnerving narrative. Dark humour and exploration of philosophical and political identities combine to create a piece both unique and unforgettable.
