When: Thursday 25th July 2013 -> Wednesday 31st July 2013
Where: Sophia Gardens, Sophia Close, Cardiff CF11 9HW
At Court, Hippolyta, an Amazonian warrior, is about to wed Theseus, who has won her in a battle. To that same Court, Egeus arrives, demanding that his errant daughter Hermia accept Demetrius, the husband he has chosen for her, or face the law's ultimate penalty. Hermia therefore elopes into the woods with her lover Lysander, hotly pursued by Demetrius, who in turn is chased by Helena, equally besotted with him.
Also in the forest are an amateur acting group made up of local workers, secretly rehearsing a great tragedy, which they hope will amuse and amaze Theseus and Hippolyta at their wedding supper.
Unbeknownst to these mortals, the King and Queen of the Fairies, Oberon and Titania, are also in the midst of a terrible quarrel, with Oberon bent on revenge, not caring who may accidentally get in his way. He calls on his court jester Robin Goodfellow to orchestrate some mischief, which with puckish imperfection and fairy enchantment almost goest too far.
Everyman Theatre are pleased to perform Shakespeare's most popular summer comedy here in the nation's capital, with just a sprinkling of Celtic magic.
Performances start at 8pm with matinee performances at 3pm on Saturday 27 and Wednesday 31 July.
