One of four Wetherspoon's pubs in Cardiff city centre. In my opinion Lloyds offers the best cheap booze and chilled atmosphere.
Wetherspoon's pubs have a bit of a reputation for cheap beer and the fact that you almost never find any fit birds there! Thank God that LLoyds No 1 smashes this presumption to pieces.
If you visit during a lunch-hour you can be garanteed that you can order your food then sit back and enjoy your beer, the service is very prompt at this time of day (less than 15 minutes for a LARGE cheeseburger and fries).
At 5:30 you will find all sorts in the bar and the atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. You can still order your food at the bar and the table service remains efficient.
After 8:00 the bouncers turn up and all the kiddies get kicked out, thank God (i feel old enough as it is). There is always a good mix - male/female old/young - but it tends to go downhill between 9:00 and 10:30 when all the students leave so that they can get into clubs on the cheap.
Bottom line is, if you are on the pull you could do worse than LLoyds, a lot worse.
